How to Layer A Bed for Fall!

How to Layer A Bed for Fall!

As the cooler weather starts to creep in and the first day of Fall less than a month a way, now's the time to start planning your Autumn bed!
From piling on pillows to lots of cozy layers, read on to see our top ways to sleep tight and stay toasty this season.

Start with a good base, for Fall I like the look of flax linen. It feels right for the season.  Linen lasts for a long time and many people don't realize the longer you have it, the softer it becomes.  We also carry sheet sets in bamboo, and cotton HERE.  In Europe, they often skip a flat sheet altogether and use only a fitted sheet.

The next layer is a soft lightweight blanket. I'm using our combed cotton Alpine blanket.  But you could also use a coverlet for this layer. A coverlet is a lightweight bedspread that is usually either quilted or woven.

I've folded our Arrowhead coverlet in slate at the foot of the bed above.  It gives the bed a contrast of color and allows the person sleeping lots of cozy options throughout the night.

Next comes the duvet.  A classic stripe is perfect for Autumn. This is our Blake collection in flax/midnight.  If you want a little lighter and brighter look you could opt for the Blake in cream/grey.  Filling your duvet with a good fluffy insert is very important in giving your bed that dreamy cloud look and feel.

For the pillows I'm stacking 2 Arrowhead big pillows in slate at the headboard on top of the standard sleeping pillows for that dramatic height. (I love these for reading in bed and sometimes I even will put one under my feet after a long day!)

In front of those, I placed 2 Euros, which are squares. Then an Arrowhead King Sham in cream and an Alpine 14x40 pillow will be my 2 decorative pieces in front.   Play around with your decorative pillows. The more, the merrier! And the possibilities are endless when it comes to mixing and matching. All of our collections are designed to be mixed with each other.

Lastly, I've placed our unbelievably soft and lightweight chenille throw, the Camille in winter white at the foot of the bed.  Wrap this blanket around you and feel its incredible texture!
Take a look at the pages of Architectural Digest and you'll notice that the key to a magazine-worthy bed is the perfectly arranged layers.  And with the cooler temperatures coming, now is the time to create your own multi layered look!
Happy Autumn!
